Privacy
Cellar is a private record of the wine you own and drink. This page says what it keeps, who can see it and what you can do about it.
What it keeps
- Your email address and, through the sign-in service, your password (stored hashed, never readable by the app).
- Everything you record: wines, bottles and where they are, what you paid, tasting notes, wishlist and wine-menu sessions, and the photos you add.
- A count of the AI requests you make each month (not their content), to keep within the monthly allowance.
Who can see it
Only you, when you are signed in. Other people with accounts cannot see your wines, prices, notes or photos. The person who runs the service can technically reach the database and photo storage in order to keep it working, and will not look at your records without a reason you would agree with, such as helping you fix a problem.
If you leave wine-menu price checks shared (Settings), each check records only the wine, vintage, country and the shop price found, never who asked.
AI features
When you scan a label, read a wine list, price-check a shortlist, import a spreadsheet that needs help reading, or ask for an expected profile or a structured note, the content needed for that request (a photo, or the wine's details and your note) is sent to Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI model, to produce the answer. Nothing is sent unless you start one of those actions. See Anthropic's own privacy policy for how it handles that data.
Where it is stored
The app runs on Fly.io and the database and photos are held by Supabase, both in Sydney, Australia. Your email address also passes through the email service that sends the sign-up and password-reset messages.
Your choices
- Download everything you have recorded, and delete your account and all of it, from the Account page.
- Deleting a wine or bottle hides it, and you can restore it from Recently deleted. Deleting your account removes everything for good.
